Starting this week, individuals can place orders for up to four tests per US household via the user-friendly platform Covidtests.gov. Those lacking internet access can simply dial 1-800-232-0233 (TTY 1-888-720-7489) to request their tests.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention strongly advises testing for anyone experiencing Covid-19-like symptoms, such as a sore throat, runny nose, loss of smell or taste, or a fever. Additionally, individuals planning to attend large gatherings, such as concerts or conferences, especially if they are not fully vaccinated, should consider testing.
Moreover, it’s crucial to get tested at least five days following close contact with a Covid-19-positive individual, even in the absence of symptoms. If the initial test returns a negative result, a follow-up test 48 hours later is recommended.
The Biden administration has committed to continuously providing additional tests to uninsured individuals through various community outreach programs. To locate programs offering free government tests, consult HRSA health centers, the Test to Treat website, or ICATT locations online.
